Community Awareness

TakeCare is committed to promoting community awareness and improving public understanding of important health and wellness issues affecting the people of Guam and the region. Through strategic partnerships, educational initiatives, health fairs, and community outreach programs, the company actively supports efforts that empower individuals and families to make informed healthcare decisions and embrace healthier lifestyles.

As part of this commitment, TakeCare has supported programs that address critical public health concerns. These include participation in the Salvation Army's "Bridging the Gap" Drug Awareness Conference, which brings together healthcare professionals, educators, law enforcement officials, and community leaders to address substance abuse prevention, education, intervention, and recovery resources. The company has also supported the annual symposium hosted by the Guam Medical Society, providing opportunities for healthcare professionals to remain informed about emerging medical trends, best practices, and healthcare challenges affecting Guam and Micronesia.

TakeCare has maintained a long-standing partnership with the American Cancer Society Guam Chapter to promote cancer prevention, early detection, and community education. Through workshops, awareness campaigns, and public outreach activities focused on breast cancer, colorectal cancer, and other preventable diseases, these efforts help increase awareness of risk factors, screening recommendations, and the importance of preventive care. Community-wide events such as the annual Breast Cancer Awareness Wave and Relay For Life continue to bring together healthcare organizations, businesses, survivors, caregivers, and families to advance cancer awareness and support services throughout Guam.

More recently, TakeCare and FHP employees participated in the Guam Department of Public Health and Social Services Breast Cancer Awareness Health Fair, providing health education resources and promoting the importance of routine mammograms and preventive screenings. The event offered free health screenings, educational materials, and wellness activities designed to encourage early detection and proactive health management.

TakeCare's commitment to cancer awareness aligns with ongoing regional efforts to address one of Guam's most significant public health challenges. According to recent reports from the University of Guam and the Guam Cancer Center, cancer remains one of the leading causes of death on Guam, with breast and colorectal cancers among the most commonly diagnosed forms. Public education, regular screenings, and early intervention continue to be key strategies in reducing cancer-related illness and improving outcomes for island residents.

Beyond cancer awareness, TakeCare actively seeks opportunities to engage with schools, employers, nonprofit organizations, government agencies, and community groups to improve health literacy and promote wellness. The company has also demonstrated its commitment through charitable contributions to organizations supporting cancer care, health access, and community services, helping bridge gaps in care for vulnerable populations throughout Guam.

Through these ongoing efforts, TakeCare demonstrates its belief that quality healthcare extends beyond insurance coverage and clinical services. By investing in education, prevention, and community partnerships, TakeCare helps build a healthier, more informed community while empowering individuals to take an active role in their health and well-being.
