TakeCare Insurance Company,Inc. recently received notice of its renewal of accreditation compliance to the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (“AAAHC”) standards.

AAAHC is a private, non-profit organization formed in 1979. It is a leader in developing standards to advance and promote patient safety, quality care, and value for ambulatory health care through peer-based accreditation processes, education, and research.  AAAHC currently accredits more than 6,000 organizations in a wide variety of ambulatory health care settings including ambulatory surgery centers, community health centers, medical and dental group practices, medical home practices, and managed care organizations, as well as Indian and student health centers, among others.

The AAAHC health plan accreditation program is recognized by many state and federal regulators and healthcare oversight divisions as meeting stringent operational and program requirements in areas such as quality and risk management, member rights and utilization management, patient safety, network adequacy and provider credentialing.

“There were a number of positive progress and improvements that we’ve made on complying with the accreditation standards from the last survey to this recent survey,” said Arvin Lojo, TakeCare health plan administrator.  “This is a testament to everyone’s work and dedication for continuous improvement at TakeCare.”

Auditors from AAAHC examined TakeCare’s procedures and operations covering 10 subject areas: member rights, responsibilities and protections; governance, administration, provider network credentialing, network adequacy, case management and care coordination; health education & wellness promotion; clinical records and health information; environment of care safety, and quality improvement program.

TakeCare, the first in the region to receive accreditation, received a three-year accreditation in 2016 and was renewed in 2019.  This 2022 accreditation renewal is through 2025.
