FHP Health Center announces that its digital mammogram has once again successfully passed its annual inspection by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration and in conjunction with the American College of Radiology accreditation continues to be in full compliance with the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA).

This complex process involved an on-site facility inspection by FDA personnel who review stringent criteria that include:

  • Personnel: Physicians who interpret mammograms, radiologic technologists who perform mammography, and medical physicists who survey equipment must have adequate training and experience.
  • Quality Control/Record-keeping: Each facility must have an effective quality control program and maintain certain records.
  • Medical Audit: Each facility must have a system for following up on mammograms that reveal problems and process for obtaining biopsy results.

“I thank Dr. Andrew Graves and the staff in the FHP Imaging department,” said Gerry Patricio, BS, RDMS, RVT, senior business manager at the FHP Health Center. “I also thank Agnes Limos, radiology mammographer, whose diligent preparation led to a successful inspection, and Dr. Michael Fenton, Dr. Vincent Lizama, JMI Edison, Gamma Corporation, and FHP global infrastructure and operations, and FHP facilities, for their valuable contributions.”

Since 2013, FHP Health Center has spent $4 million to upgrade diagnostic equipment including the digital mammogram, 3.0 Tesla MRI, ultrasound, digital x-ray, and CT scanner.

“FHP Health Center continues to invest in and maintain its medical diagnostic technology to better serve our patients,” said Rose Grino, RN, healthcare delivery administrator, FHP Health Center. “At FHP Health Center, we offer a wide range of diagnostic medical imaging services.”
