Taneva-Cholakova Joins FHP Health Clinic
Elena Taneva-Cholakova, FNP-BC, APRN, recently joined FHP Health Clinic. Taneva-Cholakova brings more than 22 years of diverse healthcare experience spanning critical care, solid organ transplant, urgent care, family medicine, mental health, and preventive care.
Most recently, she served as a Family Nurse Practitioner at a local clinic, where she provided comprehensive care emphasizing health promotion and education to underserved populations.
Her extensive background includes serving as a Clinical Transplant Coordinator and CVICU/ICU nurse at AdventHealth Hospital in Orlando, Florida, where she specialized in perioperative care for heart and lung transplant patients.
Taneva-Cholakova is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Preventive Care/Public Health at Loma Linda University. She holds a Master of Science in Nursing with a Family Nurse Practitioner specialty from Chamberlain University, a Master of Science in Global Health and Wellbeing from the University of Dundee in Scotland, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Chamberlain University in Addison, Illinois. Her international education also includes a Bachelor of Health Science from the University of Malta and an Associate in Nursing from the University of Sofia in Bulgaria.
She is certified as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in Guam and holds a multistate Registered Nurse license. Her certifications include Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from the American Heart Association.
Taneva-Cholakova's professional memberships include the American Association of Critical Care Nurses, North American Transplant Coordinator Organization, Sigma Theta Tau International Honors Society of Nursing, and the Association of Clinical Research Professionals.
Her commitment to global health is demonstrated through numerous medical mission trips to countries including Ethiopia, Honduras, Guatemala, Philippines, Haiti, Kenya, Tanzania, India, and many others. She is fluent in English, Spanish, Russian, and Bulgarian, and continues to lead lifestyle medicine seminars internationally. In 2023, she was honored as the Nurses Week Poster face at the U.S. Congress.
