Notice of Change to ICD-10

Monday, October 19th, 2015

The transition to ICD-10 is required by October 1, 2015, for health care providers, health plans, and clearinghouses by the Center of Medicare and Medicaid services.

In accordance with the federal mandate, TakeCare Insurance, inc. will no longer accept claims submitted with ICD-9 codes for dates of service on or after October 1, 2015. Electronic claims will be rejected by the online system, and paper claims will be returned to providers for correction.

Claims with dates of service prior to October 1, 2015 will be processed with ICD-9 codes, regardless of claim submission method.

TakeCare launches Balanced Lifestyle initiative with Women’s Soccer Festival

TakeCare sponsors Achieve Your Goal’s Women’s Recreational Soccer Festival

As part of TakeCare’s “Balanced Lifestyle” initiative, TakeCare is proud to partner with the Guam Football Association in presenting TakeCare’s Achieve Your Goals Women’s Recreational Soccer Festival, the first known soccer festival for women’s recreational teams in Asia.

“TakeCare has been an active part of this community for almost 45 years. As a company, TakeCare has always understood the importance of getting fit and being active. Now, we’ve taken that a step further with the Balanced Lifestyle initiative,” says Jeff Larsen, President of TakeCare Insurance, Inc.

The Balanced Lifestyle initiative is a TakeCare program that promotes physical activity, healthy eating, relaxation and maintaining a positive social life while focusing on key aspects of maintaining good overall health.

“The TakeCare Achieve Your Goals Festival will provide women an opportunity to play in a fun and recreational soccer festival, which will include multiple short scrimmages with other teams,” explains Grace Martinez, Festival Coordinator.

“We’re excited to see this historical event, that not only promotes getting fit, but achieve your goal to obtain good overall health,” Larsen shares.

The festival will take place on Sunday, October 25, 2015 at the Guam Football Association’s Harmon Training Facility. TakeCare’s Wellness Team will also be present to share information about the importance of Breast Cancer Awareness.

Federal Program Renews with TakeCare in 2016

TakeCare and FHP partner with American Cancer Society and Guam Cancer Care to promote breast cancer awareness.

TakeCare Insurance and FHP is proud to partner with the American Cancer Society and the Guam Cancer Care in celebration of National Breast Cancer Awareness month. Breast cancer claims the life of one woman every 13 minutes; however, when found early, breast cancer survival is increasingly high.

All eligible TakeCare members (women ages 40 and above) who complete a breast mammogram at FHP Health Center between September 2, 2015 and October 31, 2015 will receive a free gift and be entered for a chance to win a Family Fun Day package among other great prizes.

FHP Health Center to hold Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for its State-Of-The-Art MRI Scanner

Tamuning, GU—The FHP Health Center will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony to introduce the most powerful state-of-the-art 3 Tesla (3T) MRI Scanner to the community on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 10 a.m. at the Imaging Center located at the FHP Annex in Tamuning.  “This new machine will have a magnetic field strength of 3 Tesla (3T), a significant improvement on the existing 1.5T scanners available on island,” said Gerry Patricio, FHP Radiology Manager.  “In addition to the machine’s advanced high-field technology, its 70cm wide bore design will give our patients a more comfortable scan experience,” said Patricio.

TakeCare’s $3 million dollar investment is part of its aim to ensure that its patients and members in the community have the additional option to access specific medical imaging services within TakeCare’s provider network.  “It also provides us the opportunity to further enhance FHP’s ability to diagnose and treat various medical conditions,” said Jeff Larsen, TakeCare Insurance COO.  Currently, FHP’s radiology services include CT Scan, Bone Mineral Density, Mammogram, Echocardiogram, Ultrasound, X-Ray services and in the next few months, FHP will take another step into advances of technology by upgrading its mammography services to digital.

Overseeing the expanded and current radiology services at the FHP Health Center is newly hired radiologist, Dr. Douglas Powell.  “Dr. Powell’s fifteen plus years of expertise in interventional vascular procedures and diagnostic radiology services will assist in meeting the medical needs of Guam residents,” said Corey Roberts, FHP Clinic Administrator.  The FHP Health Center’s radiology department is set to open its doors to accommodate patients for MRI services on May 1, 2013.

We are writing you today to inform you of a decision made by the Guam Memorial Hospital Authority (“GMHA”) Board of Trustees (“the Board”) last Thursday during its regular board meeting. The Board voted to provide TakeCare Insurance Company, Inc. (“TakeCare”) with 60 days’ notice of termination of The Direct Payer Agreement between GMHA. The Direct Payer Agreement allows TakeCare to receive Members’ claims directly from GMHA and for TakeCare to make payment on behalf of its Members directly to GMHA. READ MORE


FHP Health Center Receives CT scan Accreditation

Tamuning, GU— The FHP Health Center received an accreditation for its CT scan services by the American College of Radiology.  The FHP Radiology Department is the first medical center on Guam to receive the prestigious CT scan certification.  Gerry Patricio, FHP Radiology Department Manager, “This accreditation is an important milestone for FHP because it validates the qualifications of our FHP radiologists and professional staff and it certifies the quality of the CT equipment in addition to making us compliant with the Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act (MIPPA).”

According to the Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act (MIPPA), all providers of CT, MRI, breast MRI, nuclear medicine, and PET exams that bill under Medicare Part B are required to be accredited by Jan. 1, 2012.
