FHP Health Center to hold Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for its State-Of-The-Art MRI Scanner

Tamuning, GU—The FHP Health Center will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony to introduce the most powerful state-of-the-art 3 Tesla (3T) MRI Scanner to the community on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 10 a.m. at the Imaging Center located at the FHP Annex in Tamuning.  “This new machine will have a magnetic field strength of 3 Tesla (3T), a significant improvement on the existing 1.5T scanners available on island,” said Gerry Patricio, FHP Radiology Manager.  “In addition to the machine’s advanced high-field technology, its 70cm wide bore design will give our patients a more comfortable scan experience,” said Patricio.

Overseeing the expanded and current radiology services at the FHP Health Center is newly hired radiologist, Dr. Douglas Powell.  “Dr. Powell’s fifteen plus years of expertise in interventional vascular procedures and diagnostic radiology services will assist in meeting the medical needs of Guam residents,” said Corey Roberts, FHP Clinic Administrator.  The FHP Health Center’s radiology department is set to open its doors to accommodate patients for MRI services on May 1, 2013.

The FHP Health Center, one of Micronesia’s leading medical clinics located in the United States Territory of Guam, integrates complete and optimized healthcare under one trusted family brand.
